My name is Paul Lichtenstein. I went to Sde Boker in the very first year 1969-70 we were 10th and 11th grade. I left at the end of 11th grade so did not graduate in 1971.
I'm not sure wether I would qualify for "alumni" status....
We did a tiyul to Sinai and I think that some of the photo's you show for the year 1971 are in fact from that trip. In fact I think that photo No 71-005 shows Danita Klaff climbing down the stairs and my late mother Ora Lichtenstein sitting with the sunglasses. My mom came along as the nurse for the trip.
In those days, Danita, Lois and Lizzie were lovingly referred to in our room (Paul Hutt, JBD, Dave Kandel , Paul Lichtenstein) as "the three little pigs" and Jon Shavin earned the nickname of "peachfuzz" because although already in 10th grade - his whiskers were only just beginning.
The head of school in our first "pioneer" year, was Joe Shadoor, and the madrich was the legendary David Baniel who had been Ben Gurion's aide and afterwards became the custodian of Ben Gurion's hut at Sde Boker.
All in all it was a great year.
Looking forward to reading more on the site.
